John Bowers

John Bowers acts on a consulting basis to the firm in his primary areas of practice. He served in the Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York. After he graduated, he attended Albany Law School in Albany, New York, and received his LLB from Albany Law School with honors. After his graduation from Law School in 1953, he came to Wisconsin where he did graduate work in law for two years and received his Doctor of Juridical Science degree in 1955 from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Wisconsin until 1963, when he entered the private practice of law. He was appointed Deputy Attorney General in 1965, where he served until mid 1966. In 1966, he returned to private practice. He chaired the State Bar's Group and Prepaid Legal Services Committee for a number of years and also served on the Board of Governors for four two-year terms.

He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and in the State of Wisconsin. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. He served as reporter and editor to the Criminal Jury Instruction Committee from 1961 through 1976 and served in an advisory capacity to the Committee for several years thereafter.
